Following the introduction of the legislation, the Welsh Government published specific Approved Document B Volumes 1 and 2. These contain guidance on how to comply with the regulations, in "Section 2: Automatic Fire Suppression Systems". They refer to the following standards:
- BS 9251 :2014
- BS EN 12845:2009 ( 2015)
The technical standards also allowed are:
- Water Mist BS 8458:2015
- Other national standards/ codes e.g. NFPA
